That's my big problem. All of Williams census papers and family belief is that William came from Ireland. We know of nothing that shows he had any brothers. Yes, all of the Hydes have been Catholic. The earliest record of William is a census report from NY in 1860. At that time he was married to Elizabeth (Annie). Son John was 2 and daughter Julia was 4 months. So, William came to America sometime in the 1850's. All of the blanks have been filled on this side of the Atlantic but cannot find anything to say WHERE in Ireland he came from. My brother and I have searched Immigration, Ship passenger lists, Naturilization, ( I know thats mispelled!!!) WE have contacted relatives we haven't met. We are stuck!!! We do not even know if he was married we he got here. Do you know of a way to investigate Hydes in County Cork? From what I hear it is hard to get any information unless you know the exact town or village. Thanks, it would be great if we were looking for the same people. I have one more avenue to to check out as soon as I can. I will tell you what I find. Steven
