Your post is old, so you may have this already, but if not:
Mary French was the daughter of Lt William and Elizabeth French. She was born in Essex England and emmigrated with her parents when she was 2.5 years old.
My husband's family is descended, father to son, from Mary and Jonathon's fifth son, Jonathon.A family history compiled by Dr. Daniel Hyde of Lewisburg, PA states that Mary French was "(B. 1633 at Halstead, Essexshire, Eng.;d. 27 May, 1672)
The Frenchs emmigrated on the Defence out of London bound for Boston. Sailed around July 31 and arrived in Boston on October 8. I got this out of Planters of the Commonwealth by Charles Banks. Published in 1967 by Genealogical Pub. of Baltimore MD. The book should give the year of the sailing which I surmise was 1636. I didn't get that piece of information. If you find it, would you please pass me confirmation on the year?
WM and Elizbeth were both 30 when they sailed. Their oldest child (Francis) was 10 years old. They came first to Cambridge, then to Billerica. Wm died there on Nov 20, 1681, aged 78. Elizabeth died there on March 13, 1668.
