Jamie,
I don't know if this will help you but here
goes.My sister and I are researching our
family.Our great grandfather Edward Hyde
came from England to America about 1869. He
went to Utica and then to W.Winfield(where he
worked as a farm hand for a man named Delos(?) Crumb. He was followed shortly by two
brothers James and Charles. In 1875 James
worked as a manager in a cheese factory at
Frankfort,Herkimer County.In 1876(?) their
sister Minnie joined them. She was friends
with a lady by the name of Nina Kernauft(?)
who owned
market garden in NY. She then
went to Utica to W.Winfield to Plainfield
(where she had a job with a family named
Clark) In 1871 brother Fred and sisters
Hattie and Jamie came over.Went first to
Utica to Winfield.
Edward had gotten them a cottage 1/2 miles
from the farm and village. They moved to
village about 1873 and left there in 1875.
Edward met and married Elma Wadell from
Unadilla Forkes(?). He worked for a place
called Woods Corner about 2 miles se of Winfield.Charles worked 1) a gun factory
2) Frankfort match factory until 1883.
We still have a lot of missing information.
I hope this will be of help to you.If you
can help us fill in the gaps we would be
very appreciative.Sybil
