William Hutton - born Sept. 1876 in Arkansas - 1880 in Cherokee Co., Kansas
I am trying to find out if this is the William Hutton who is the son of William Jefferson Hutton born 1851 in Jones Co., Iowa and died in either Labette Co., Kansas or Washington Co., Arkansas before 1880.William Jefferson Hutton was living in Washington Co., Arkansas in the 1870 census. In the 1880 census for Cherokee Co., Kansas (neighboring county to Labette) William’s father is listed as being born in Iowa and his mother Mattie a widow.
In 1880 William Hutton was living in the household of Reubin Clark ( born Indiana April 1833) in Lola Twp., Cherokee Co., Kansas. Also in Reubin’shousehold was Martin A. Clark (born Oct 1867 in Missouri), Fred Clark (born 1772 in Kansas), Charles Clark ( born 1774 in Kansas), Joseph Shoemaker (born 1843 in Indiana), Mattie Hutton (widow born 1859 in Indiana).
Living next door to Reubin Clark was Rachel Clark (widow born 1842 in Arkansas).Rachel is Rachel Jane Baker daughter ofColton Baker (born 1818 in Tennessee and died 1870 in Labette Co., Kansas) and Catharine Kifer born in Tennessee.Rachel’s 1st marriage (in Washington Co., Arkansas) was to Henry Brotherton (born in Washington Co., Arkansas - died in Labette Co., Kansas in 1872).Her 2ndmarriage was toMr. Petty and her 3rd marriage was to Jordon Clark in 1877.
Joseph Shoemaker married a Mattie A. who I believe may be Mattie Hutton.Possibly Mattie is the daughter of Henry and Rachel Baker Brotherton.
William Hutton was living in the household of Martin A. Clark in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory in 1900.This was most likely in what is now Mayes County, Oklahoma in the Pryor or Chouteau area.Martin A. Clark must have died before 1904 because his wife was remarried and living in Franklin Co., Arkansas in 1910.She had been married for 6 years toB. McDonald.
I have not been able to find William Hutton after the 1900 census or his connection to the Clark family.Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
