Hi Norm!!You are the lucky number, as we need 6 males with the Hutton surname to start the DNA project.I am really excited about this.To my knowledge, there are no restrictions on locality. There is a man from England who is also going to participate. He traces his ancestor back to Scotland also. I will contact the Family Tree DNA facility and make sure about the locality situation. The DNA test is in essence a mouth swab and can be done in the privacy of your home.Let me contact the company and then get back to all who are going to participate. A kit is sent to your home and then when completed , you will send a check with the test kit back to the company.I will not be handling any monies. A password will be issued to each participant so he can check his results on the Family Tree DNA site.It is a 12 marker DNA test and you will be amazed what you will find out about yourself. The hope is, of course, to connect with other branches of your family, to confirm your research, determine if two or more people descend from the same ancestor and to give clues about your ethnic origin. If you have not checked out the website, I hope you will do so.It is www.familytreedna.com.When the time comes, I will need to have your mailing address to have the kit sent. You can send to me privately at [email protected] hope we can be off and running on this project by the first of October.I'll get back to you. This will be a continuing project and the University of Arizona keep the DNA samples for future comparisons instead of throwing them away. Many thanks, Marilyn
