Hi Samuel
Nice to hear from a Hutton in Co Antrim. I've done alot of searching thru Irish records trying to find my relatives and maybe I've come across your lines at some point.
The earliest I can find my Huttons is the 1830s in Ahoghill Parish. Allen(Alexander) Hutton married Susan Lennon. Maybe Allen was a Protestant who married a Catholic Lennon but I don't know. Their children, including my g grandfather,Hugh Hutton b.1841 were baptised at St Mary's RC Church in Ahoghill.
The children of Allen and Susan Hutton married into families with surnames Cassidy, Hughes, Neeson, Kennedy, and my Hugh Hutton who married Jane Blair, a Protestant.
Hugh was a stationmaster for the railways. The 1881 Larne, Co Antrim city directory lists Hugh Hutton as the stationmaster for the Narrow Gauge Railway. Hugh emigrated to the USA by July 1881.
There are also possible connections to Huttons in Brocklamont, Hannahstown, Tullygrawley(Tullygarley),and others. Also, the McElhatton/Hutton who went to Philadelphia,USA was from Maghera, Co Derry and had connections to the McAtamney family. I think that Maghera is about half way between Ahoghill and Dungiven.
Does any of this connect with your line ?
Rick Hutton
