Samuel Thomas Hutchison 1855 - 1947
Samuel Thomas Hutchison, son of Eli M. and Sarah Jane Chapman Hutchison was born 11 July 1855 Griggsville,Pike Co.,IL and died 15 Feb 1947 in Mt. Sterling, Brown Co.,IL at age 91 years and 7 months.
His twin sister, Mrs. Elvira Greenwood passed away in 1928. Two other sisters preceded him in death. Two twin half-brothers Fred and Ed Crawford, living in Des Moines,IA and a number of neices and nephews survive him.
Sam came to Mt. Sterling when a young boy and lived here most of his life. For several years he lived with the James Hazlett family in Clayton,IL and then came to the home of the Charles Dunlap family where he lived for more than 60 years as a faithful helper and friend. The past four years Mrs. Cora Williams has cared for Sam most kindly in her home where he passed away.
During the pastorate of Rev. Burk, Sam united with the Baptist church of Mt. Sterling.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Ouverson, Monday afternoon in the Rounds chapel.
Pallbearers were James Hanks, Charles Ford, Frank Kessing, Harry Tice, Lweis Prillmayer and Leonard Wagner. Burial was in the City cemetery.
