Loraine Kiracofe, age 89, formerly of Richmond, died Thursday (July 5, 2007) in Crestview, Fla. She was born in Atlanta, Ga., on Feb. 22, 1918, to Rev. Ernie and Ruby Rawls Hutchison and had lived in Richmond most of her life before retiring to Florida with her husband. She was a 1940 graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky., and had taught junior high English at Riley and Pleasant View schools. She served as a substitute teacher after her retirement from full-time teaching. She met her husband, Robert Kiracofe, while in college and they enjoyed 62½ years of marriage until his death in 2003. She was a longtime member and active participant in First Christian Church, where she was also a member of the Golden Band Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Richmond Mother's Club and of the Richmond Art Association. Loraine enjoyed traveling and painting and had entered numerous local and regional art competitions. She also enjoyed playing the piano and pipe organ. Survivors include her son, Dr. George (Gail) Kiracofe of Ozark, Ala.; daughter, Donna Jean (Dr. William H.) Hall of Powell, Ohio; brothers, Dr. Donald R. (Nell) Hutchison of Bloomington, Ind., Walter (Helen) Hutchison of North Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Gloria) Hall of Lakewood, Colo., Minda F. Hall of Powell, Ohio, Sarah (Bruce) Mattrisch of Wisconsin, Rebecca Kiracofe of New Mexico, Jon B. Hall of Powell, Ohio, Matthew (Jackie) Kiracofe of Wisconsin, Leah (Clint) Laaser of Kansas City, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Brianna Terry of New Mexico, Lillian Kiracofe of Wisconsin, Mallko Hall of Lakewood, Colo.; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, a brother, Emory Hutchison, is also deceased. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday (July 13, 2007) in First Christian Church (100 S. 10th St., Richmond). Rev. Amanda Hines will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday (July 12, 2007) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary.
