I was wondering what documentation you had connecting the John Hutchinson of Co. Antrim (b.1675) with the one in Nottingham, England? All the studies on Jackson I have ever come across that mention his genealogy brought his mother's family back to the Glasgow-Renfrew area of Scotland (similarly with his father's) prior to the Ireland move,and usually stress his non-English Ulster Scot origins accting for his anti-English biases. I have also found different genealogies of Jackson's mother's family. A work by Mary Veach, "Sorting the Waxhaw Crawfords," claims Elizabeth Hutchinson had 4 sisters, one of whom was a Mary, but who is said to have m. not Henry Coffey (the supposition I received about my Mary's marriage) but a John Lesley, brother of Samuel Lesley, who married her other sister Sarah. The other sisters in this work are said to be Jane, who m. James Crawford, Sr., Grace, m. James Crow, and Margaret, who m. George McKemey. A recent rept. I got from Mary Mann Rollis, whose husband descends from Peter Hutchinson in Scott Co., VA(m.Nancy Green) believed by them to be a brother to Elizabeth Hutchinson, show the same for sisters Sarah and Jane, but to have a sister Martha, and show a sister Jannette to have m. John Lesley, with no sisters Mary, Grace, or Margaret. The greatest difference in the lineages is in regarding these siblings' parents. Ms. Veach's work claims that Cyrus, weaver of Carrickfergus, is reported to be their father, with no mother mentioned. One Joyce Wirth postulates their parents to be William and Mary Lisle Hutchinson. Genealogist Jean Fountain of the York Co. SC Historical Center, is said to have claimed a John Hutchinson as their father. Mary Mann Rollis repeats a claim I have seen more than any of the others, that a James P. Hutchinson born on 1/10/1692 in Ireland m. Hannah Howerton in 1736. James is said to have died in VA in 1748 and Hannah in 1770. Granting that the claim for father John skipped Cyrus' generation, it still leaves 2 dompletely different sets of parents for an unknown number of children: William and Mary or Margaret Lisle Hutchinson, and James P. and Hannah Howerton Hutchinson. Ms. Veach's work has Jackson's mother Elizabeth as being born in 1737, rather than the yr. 1720 you state for her, the latter of which would have made her no younger than 47 yrs. of age at Andrew's birth. Because of the large variation in claims made for this family, incl. that of my own ancestress, Mary Coffey, whose husband Henry is mentioned in no one's genealogy to date, I am always interested in source materials and documentation, esp. as this is the first time I have heard of Jackson's being an English, rather than Scottish, Hutchinson. Perhaps you have unearthed evidence that has not been seen by earlier biographers?
