In Reply to: James (B1853) & Sarah (B1857) Of Gloucester City, NJ by James Hutchinson of 3883

I suggest getting their death certificates and obituaries. Sarah was a widow by 1930.

Living with her in the 1930 and 1920 censuses was her brother Frank Crowley. The same family of Crowley's appear in the 1910 through 1880 census in Gloucester City. Mary Crowley, born ca 1823, is their mother according to the 1880 census.

A Mary Crowley who died in Gloucester City in 1899, age 75, can be found in this database:

James Hutchinson and Sarah Crowley were married June 12, 1880:

James appears in the 1880 census of Gloucester City just days before he married. It shows him as the son of Agnes Hutchison 58, born in England. Also listed is his sister Jane Husten (sp) 25 (I suspect Jane was actually 31).

A James, Jane and Mary Hutchinson are listed in the 1860 census of Ridley, Delaware County, PA. The patriarch was William 37.

The same family appears in the 1850 census of Philadelphia.

When the Andrew Foster arrived in New York on May 11, 1850 it included the following family:

Wm Hutchinson 25
Agnes 24
Mary 5
Margaret 3
Maria 1
Jane 7 months.

The names and ages correspond to the 1850 census finding.

More research is necessary to confirm that these are the right families.
