Origin of surname "Hutchins"
Posted by: Julie Hutchins Smit Date: May 26, 2000 at 20:54:19

I am new to this Hutchins' message board and have already corresponded with a few distant relatives! John Hutchins of Haverhill, Mass. was my Founder relative and Jeremiah Hutchins was my Patriot relative.
I was told the name Hutchins was derived from being descendants of King Hutch of Normandy. Can anyone confirm this? Also, did most Hutchins come from the Southampton area of England?
