Wynne;
Thank you for your message.
I believe your ancestor and my subject are one and the same. It appears from the CS Navy Registers that he only served as an acting master for a brief time, 21 August 1861 through ca. May 1862. He was apparently discharged at the Jackson, Mississippi Naval Station - when most of the officers of the CS Navy who had served at New Orleans were let go, there being no warships left for them to serve on.
I am compiling a biograhical register of the officers of the CS Navy and need the follwoing information if you have it:
Date and place of birth
Names of parents
Pre-war experience
Post-war experience.
Name of wife, date and place of marriage
Names of children
Place and date of death
Place of interment.
If you havean image of William, I will be pleased to pay for a copy print.
I will credit you as the source of the information in the book.
Many thanks,
Dave
