Hutcheson Family Genealogy Forum

Several members of the Hutcheson (Hutchison, Hutchieson, Hutchinson, etc.) family have passed on the story that three of the children of Sion Hutcheson (b. 1817)--Daniel (b. 1845), Green (b. 1848), and Elizabeth (b. 1853)--were born to a couple by the last name of Stewart, living in Pike County, Georgia. These Stewarts are supposed to have been slain by Indians (?), and the children taken and reared as Hutchesons by Sion and his wife, Kitsey. Green's name, it is said, was originally John, but it was changed to Green Jackson Hutcheson, probably because Sion and Kitsey already had a son named John. Except for Daniel, these Hutchesons are listed in the 1860 U. S. Census for Coffee County, Alabama, and they all moved to the Loango Community in Covington County, Alabama, after the War between the States. If anyone knows anything about this rumor that Daniel, John (Green), and Elizabeth Stewart were adopted by Sion and Kitsey Hutcheson and raised as their own, I would sure appreciate it if you'd share your knowledge with me.
