I have information on Newton P Hutcheson. Served in both Northern and Southern armies. served in 58th Regiment Alabama Infantry. He stated on some records that he had been "drafted" into service. no more records on this.

Joined the Co F, 9th Regiment, Indiana Vol. infantry, Sept 23, 1864 as under name Hudchinson, Newton. Was a "substitute for Alexander Way or Wray (Veteran) Newton was 22, 5' 10' Mustered out at Nashville on June 21 1865.

His daughter, Louella E. Mina Hutcheson married Phinus H. Rea on 12-27-1896 she died 10-22, 1962

I have a question about Mina’s mother. Was she American Indian or part Indian? Mina’s Daughter said there was Indian blood in the Hutcheson line.

Newton was from Alabama. He was listed twice in the 1860 county of St. Clair, Post Office Wolf Creek under family of Robert Inger as age 18 , farm Laborer. and in the Family of William Hutcheson (his Father), town unknown

He ended in Mississippi after war.
