My name is Terry G. Hutcheson, son of Billy G. Hutcheson, grandson of Andrew Jackson Hutcheson, great-grandson of William Alexander Hutcheson, gggs of Daniel Asbury Hutcheson, ggggs of Sion Hutchison. My grandfather, Andrew Jackson Hutcheson, spoke with me often about our family genealogy. He knew his grandfather, Daniel, very well and, in fact, lived with him at one time. I was also fortunate to meet Dora Hutcheson, widow of Sion Asbury Hutcheson, and talk with her. At that time, around 1961, she and her two children, son Delfin and daughter May, were living in Madison, Florida. My grandfather told me many times that our family were Scot and/or Scotch/Irish. He was unclear whether the family came to this country directly from Scotland or through Ulster. He was sure that the family arrived in South Carolina, he believed Charleston, and migrated into Georgia (I presume Twiggs County), then on to Coffee County, Alabama, and eventually Loango, Covington County, Alabama where he was born. My grandfather and I were very close and he shared with me many family stories and he never mentioned anything about any Indian attack or subsequent adoptions. I do not know the origin of the Indian tale, but I doubt very seriously that it is true. It does not make sense that he would have left that important detail out since he knew his grandfather Daniel so well. Further, Daniel was born after the Trail of Tears and the end of any hostilities with the Indians. I am basically computer illiterate, but anyone who has questions or comments is welcome to address them to me and I will try my best to truthfully respond.
