Looking for a family connection between the Mayhew and Hutcherson Families of Pittsylvania Co., Va. My gggg grandfather was Joseph L. Hutcherson b. 1818 in Virginia d. 19 Aug 1861 in Manassas, Virginia. His wife was Mary Anna Mayhew b. 1821 d. 30 Nov 1875. I have been to the libraries and archive departments all over Virginia and several of the librarians informed me that my gggg grandparents were first cousins. I would like to know the exact relationship of these two families, if anyone can tell me so.
