Does anybody know the parents of Thomas Jefferson Hutchens born 1803 in Wake County, NC. I think they were phoebe grimes and thomas hutchins of orange county nc??He could have been disowned.

1. Moses HUTCHINS1 was born after October 21, 1737 in Baltimore County, MD. He served in the military between 1776 and 1781 in Orange County, NC. Revolutionary War Veteran. He owned 330 acres on August 17, 1778 in Orange County, NC.2 Moses Hutchins may have been in Orange County by 1767. Court Minutes are lost from 1766 until 1777, and no land grants were issued from 1763 until 1778. He Tax List in 1779 in Orange County, NC. 2180 pounds 10 shillings He appeared on the census in 1790 in Wake County, NC. 1790 US Census Hillsborough District, Wake County, NC. He signed a will on March 8, 1813 in Orange County, NC.3 In the name of God, Amen, I Moses Hutchins of the State of North Carolina & County of Orange being of perfect mind & memory do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament & after recommending my soul to Almighty God who gave it my body to be buried in a decent & Christian like manner, I give bequeath & dispose of my worldly goods in the following manner Item: to my son Thomas Hutchins I give & bequeath all singular my real estate including the plantation on which I now live to him & his heirs forever & to be entitled to the possession therof immediately after my decease -- And my further will & desire is that after all my just debts are paid which is to be made out of the movables or perishable part of my property so as not to impinge on the land the balance or residue that shall then remain, it is my wil & desire that be equally divided between my four daughters - viz Milly Herndon, Hannah Herndon, Elizabeth Evans & Peggy Turner to them their lawful heirs - to be distributed among them as early after my decease as circumstances will admit. I do hereby nominate & appoint my son Thomas Hutchins & C.P. Patterson executors together with William Trice to this my last will & testament revoking all others whereunto I have set my hand & affixed my seal this 8th day of March in the year of our Lord 1813.

She was married to William R. HERNDON (son of Captain Benjamin HERNDON and Lydia MASSEY) on January 11, 1796 in Orange County, NC. Charles Trice served as bondsman. Charles Trice Bondsman William R. HERNDON was born in 1774 in Orange County, NC. He died before August 16, 1847 in Orange County, NC. The date of the death of William Herndon is not known, but it occured probably only a short time before 16 Aug 1847, when his daughter Margaret in her Will mentioned the fact that her father was then dead. The inventory of the estate was filed 22 September 1847 and on 26 October 1847 Chesley Herndon, who had been appointed administrator, reported that he had distributed the estate into seven equal distributive shares, as follows: one share to each of the five surviving children, an additional share to Elisabeth (Herndon) Davis, by right of bequest under the Will of her recently deceased sister Margaret Herndon, and one share to be divided equally among the surviving children of Wesley Herndon who had died vita patris. He Estate Sale on September 22, 1847 in Orange County, NC. He was bondsman for his brother Tapley Herndon when the latter married Nellie Hutchins; he was a witness to the Will of William Rhodes in 1802; he was a chainbearer for the survey of 263 1/2 acres granted 21 May 1807 to John Rhodes, whose lands adjoined John Cabe's and Pleasant Rhodes; he was appointed overseer of the road from the intersection of the Cross Roads at William Rhodes property to "Ben Rhodes Wilson' s place on said road", and as a member of the grand jury in 1818.
The Durham post office was originally named "Herndon's Orange County" when it was etablished 29 November 1827. William R. Herndon was the first postmaster.
