Hello! My name is Sandra Husted and I just found your message on the Husted Forum. Peter Edward Husted was my husband's grandfather. He was born in 1865 and died 18/Mar/1945. He was married to Martha Ellen Owens and both of them are buried at East Mt. Zion Cemetery just east and a little south of the big electric plant at LaCygne, Kansas. They had the three children that you have listed, John Franklin Husted, William and Gertrude. John Husted was my husband's father and my husband is John Franklin Husted, Jr. We live at Spring Hill, Kansas and had one daughter (Malea Husted-Lutz) and one 7 yr. old granddaughter, Layne Lutz. We lost our daughter a year ago August 1, 2006 to cancer, I have dabbled in geneology for several years and have gotten quite a lot of information on all my families except the Husted side. I know that Peter Edward's parents were Leander and Catherine A. Long. From what I have found, Leander was born in 1838, in Huron, OH. Cassie was born 4/Apr/1846, also in OH. The information I have on their children is: Emma Mae 23/Feb/1865 OH, Peter Edward 1865 OH, Melinda J 1870 MO, Annie 1872, Mary Ellen 22/Jun/1873 Clinton,Henry, MO, Mamie 1876, Elizabeth 1877 KS, Lilly 1878, George 9/Jul/1879 KS, Harvey30/Dec/1882 KS and Myrtle 1885. Leander died 7/May/1906 and is buried at Leavenworth, KS. in the Ft. Leavenworth Military Cemetery. Cassie is buried at East Mt. Zion Cemetery near LaCygne. We have been to East Mt. Zion and Ft. Leavenworth and have located all of the graves mentioned here. John Husted and my mother-in-law, Gertrude (McDaniel) Husted are buried at the Osawatomie Cemetery on old 169 Highway between Osawatomie and Paola. Our daughter is buried there and we have our lots there, also. I am 99% sure that Leander's father was Egbert Husted born in Kentucky in abt. 1804 and he was married three times, 1st-Cynthia Stone b. abt. 1812 in Warren Co. OH. They were married 1/Jan/1833 and had one child, Philander, b. abt. 1834. His 2nd wife was Melinda Symmes, b. abt. 1801 in NC. They were married 2/Mar/1834 in Butler, Richland OH. (There was some quick work there!!!) Their children were Leander abt. 1838 OH, Diana abt. 1839 OH, Cynthia abt. 1841 OH, Harvey abt. 1842 OH, James abt. 1844 OH, and Alfred abt. 1845. The only information I have on the 3rd wife was her first name, Lucinda. I am new to the computor and have a hard time finding anything and most require memberships which I'm not willing to invest in at this time, until I'm more sure of what I am doing on this thing. Did find that Egbert was born in Kentucky tonight, but it wouldn't go any further without the membership fee. So, that's were I'm at a STOP on this family tree. We visited the Old Trading Post Museum a couple of weeks ago and they do have some information there , but nothing any further back than this that we found.I'm sure I do have Leander's military papers somewhere but right now I am at a loss to find them. If you have anything more than what I have on our family please respond. Would like to know more about you and our connection, anyway. Sincerely, Sandy
