That's how we pronounce it in the NY/NJ area too! Have not heard of any other way to pronounce it (properly). Of course when people read it they usually say "hus-ted" (rhymes with busted), but the football announcers managed to get it right when Michael Husted used to be a field goal kicker for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
