James Winston's wife was Gwenllyan. Her maiden name was Williams. Her first marriage was to William Heyward at Sandhurst, Gloucestershire on September 27, 1557. They had 4 known children (William, Thomas, Anne and John Hayward). This is proven by a Will and Indenture (Marriage Contract) of James Winston dated 1687 on deposit with the Gloucestershire Archives. William Heyward died and was buried at Sandhurst, Gloucestershire on April 13?, 1572. She they married James Winston at Sandhurst, Gloucestershire on November 23, 1573. James Winston died and was buried at Willington Court, Sandhurst, Gloucestershire, England, on February 14, 1588/89. Gwenllyan apparently married a 3rd time to a Mr. Herbert (possibly Richard Herbert who died in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England in 1627). Gwenllyan died and was buried under the name of Welthian Hurburt, buried 23 October 1615 at Sandhurst, Gloucestershire, England. I have not identified the parents of Gwenllyan William yet.

Based on this information, it is highly unlikely that James Winston was born in 1547 which seems to be the uniform date assigned to his date of birth in all sources that mention a date that I have seen online. It is more likely that he was born between 1630-1640.
