Rev. John Hurt, Chaplain in Revolutionary war from Virginia

Does any one out there have information for a John Hurt (1752-1824) who was a Chaplain in the revolutionary war? His first wife was Nellie McTaggart m. 18 Jul 1785 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. His second wife was Sally Franklin m. 15 Mar 1796 in Prince Edward Co. Virginia. John and Sally had a son named Samuel Jones Hurt (1804-1887) who married a Sarah Penticost (1808-1884) They had a son named Edward Franklin Hurt. This information came from a DAR application. The names in this family would tie into my family, I just need more information. My line is: My 3rd great grandfather was William Samuel Hurt (1843- to at least 1907)His daughter, Sarah Franklin Hurt (1876-1941), Her daughter Virginia Pearl Vaught, then my grandfather Merrill Franklin Sexton (1917-1977). The Franklin name stands out to me. I don't think my 2nd great grandmother would have a middle name of Franklin unless it was a family name. I hope someone out there has the information I need to prove or disprove. I appreciate the help!
Thank you Kandie
