I think I may have the proof you are looking for 1719 John Lewis took out a land patent that bumps up to Jacob Hurst, Worner and Dorrell I found this in land patents of Virginia 1628. I am only researching the Hurst family looking for the Indian connection. The Lewis and Hurst intertwine all through History some came to Texas with them and are still living in Robertson County. This is our problem the Hurst say the Indian was on the male side the Lewis's on the mothers side but I can assure you Tobias wasn't a saint and probably had an Indian wife. They probably weren't on the census because their was no spot for Indians on the census.If anyone out there has any kind of an Indian name for a Hurst mother let me know I have found a lady who can read and write Cherokee and might be able to figure out the tribe the Hurst,s came from
