This is not my Daniel Brendan. My Daniel was in Newport in 1855 and unmarried. He married Bridget in 1856. They moved to Worcester,MA by 1860 census -- they had the following children:
John b.10 APR 1857
Mary b.12 MAR 1859
Margaret b. 8 AUG 1861(my gr grandmother)
Daniel b.23 DEC 1863
Daniel the father died 1864. When Bridget remarried she petitioned the Army for support of these 4. She was granted support. I did find a John Hurley whom I think is his brother - his wife was Ann Dunford. They were married in North Brookfield,MA in 1854 and were in Worcester by 1870.John had a son David and daughter Mary born in the Worcester area.
I also found Mary Reilly Hurley in 1870 Worcester. She died in 1871.She was mother of John and I'm pretty sure Daniel. They all lived near each other in Worcester. Thanks for any help. Helen
