In May, 2003 a Janet Cooper posted a messsage here about a John Hurley who had a brother names James. I did not respond until a year later as I was not aquainted with this page. I believe my father-in-law, James (Harley) Hurley is the long lost brother. He was place in St John's Orphanage at Rock Away Beach, Long Island at the age of 7 and then went to a foster home. The story goes that he ran away from the home and ended up in Scranton, Ps working in a diner at the railway station. He later lied about his age and joined the army but when on the train to the induction center in Syracuse, the Armistice was signed so he got off the train at Endicott, N. Y. where he lived until his death.
