Can we be searching for the same Daniel? The variation of the name spelling that I have is "Hurlbert," but everything else matches.
According to what I have been able to find and piece together from free Web sites, Daniel Hurlbert was born and christened 12 Nov 1775 in Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut, and died 23 May 1836 in St Augustine, St Johns County, Florida, buried in Old Spanish Cemetery, Old City Cemetery, St Augustine, St. Johns, Florida, with a photograph of his tombstone at http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Hurlbert&GSfn=Daniel&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=12262048&df=all&http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=Hurlbert&GSfn=Daniel&GSbyrel=all&GSdyrel=all&GSob=n&GRid=12262048&df=all&.His son, Daniel, by his first wife Ana Fray, was my great-great-grandfather who died in 1845 when my great-grandfather, also named Daniel, was five years old.The last two Daniels were listed in a handwritten genealogy that my grandmother gave me years ago.
My notes also indicate that Daniel and Ana had a daughter, Marianna, about whom I have no other information.Daniel married a second time, to Agnes (or Inez) Barnaby, to which marriage was born James Joseph Hurlbert (with whom Daniel-3 and his brother James went to live after their parents died a couple months apart) and Susan Maria Hurlbert.
Unfortunately my documentation leaves a lot to be desired.I would be interested in sharing what I have and hearing what other people have.
