Shirley Hurd Steadman, 71, Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN,
passed from this life into the arms of the Lord Monday,
April 21, 2008. She was a member of Sunnyside Baptist
Church.
Shirley was born November 24, 1936, a daughter of the
late, Luther E. and Edith (McMillian) Hurd. She had been
employed by Kingsport Power, Sears, Mason Dixon and
Tri-City Airport. She was a graduate of Sullivan High
School and attended East Tennessee State University.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her sister, JoAnne H. Hodge.
Survivors include her son, Ty H. Steadman and his wife
Kim; two grandchildren, Lauren Steadman, Taylor Steadman;
nephews, Stephen Jones, Scott Jones, Robert Hodge and her
faithful companion 'Kacee'.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 24,
2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Services
will follow with Pastor Richard Ratliff and Pastor Michael
Wrye officiating.
Graveside services will be on Friday, April 25, 2008, at
11 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park Family and friends are
asked to assemble in East Lawn’s Chapel by 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Emerson Poe, Joe Smith, Howard Hutson,
Kevin Carter, Ron Kestner and Jerry Steadman. Honorary
pallbearers will be the 300 shift of Sullivan County
Sheriff’s Department.
