St. Charles (Illinois) Review, Oct. 31, 1879
Mortimer Hurd, a bright boy about 15 years old, and only son of James Hurd, died recently of diptheria, at the new home of his parents, in Rising, Neb. Very many friends sympathize with the bereaved parents and regret that death has stricken one so active and that the grave has closed over so cheerful a face. A little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hurd is also dangerously ill of the same disease. May heaven spare these afflicted people further bereavement.
