I have recently begun researching my Huntsman family line and would be very interested in exchanging information. I am descended from Jacob Huntsman/Elizabeth Hunt through their son, Lemuel Huntsman and his son, William Cheatham Huntsman who died in Houston County, Texas about 1863/64. William is my 4th great grandfather. He married Minerva Dilliard (daughter of William Dilliard of Crockett, Tx) about 1850. They both died around 1863/64 and their children (including my ggg grandmother, Louisa M Huntsman who married Simon Sandlin) were placed under the guardianship of Mary Tompkins (who, I believe, was Minerva's elder sister). I have copies of the tax records, probate records, and guardianship records from Houston county, Texas. I am currently trying to trace back beyond Elizabeth Hunt's grandfather, James Hunt of Lunenburg, VA (wife Sarah Whitlock) to identify parents of James. I am hoping to connect him to a Hunt family who lived in colonial Virginia in the mid 1600s. I have also been trying to track Louisa Huntsman's siblings. I know that her older sister, Sara Jenny Huntsman married Stephen White and died after the birth of several children (Stephen remarried). I would love to know what happened to her sisters Margaret (Peggy) and Ann Mordela (Maud) and her brother James (all mentioned in the guardianship records). In 1860, they also had a 14-yr old (Mat or Madison) living with them; I think this was either William's youngest brother or his nephew. William C Huntsman was administrator of the estate of A.L. or A.S. Huntsman in Houston Co, Texas in 1862. I think this A.L. Huntsman is his father, Lemuel.
