I have come across an interesting possible connection with the Benton name.

Frank Huntress (1847 - 1930); born at Lowell, MA, 7 Feb 1847, son of Leonard Huntress (1811 - 1885) and Lydia Ann McKinnon (1811 - 1883); married, 25 Feb 1885, Minnie E. Benton (1862 - 1865), born at Ox Bow, NY, 24 Feb 1862, daughter of Charles C. Benton and Sarah A. West.

They had a son Carroll Benton Huntress born at Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence Co, NY, 25 Nov 1885. Minnie died about 11 days after Carroll was born and Frank remarried in 1891.
