There have been Huntingtons in America beginning in 1633. In that year, Simon Huntington of Norwich, Norfolk, England left for America with his wife Margaret (Baret), whom he married May 11, 1623, and the following children:

William
Christopher, born July 25, 1624
Ann, baptized Sept. 9, 1627
Simon, baptized July 6, 1629
Thomas

Overseas passage was on the sailing vessel Elizabeth Bonaventure, which left Yarmouth the first week in May and arrived off Boston on June 15. Simon died enroute, and his body was committed to the sea, but Margaret and the children landed and settled at Roxbury, MA. In 1635 or 1636 she married widower Thomas Stoughton of nearby Dorchester. Both of these places were settlements of the Massachusetts Bay Company and are now parts of Boston. In about 1636 the family (apparently except son William) was among residents of Dorchester who moved to the then remote settlement of Windsor on the Connecticut River just upstream from Hartford. Margaret and Thomas Stoughton died at Windsor.
