Guss Huntington Alabama's first black police officer

I am looking for information of surviving family members and the final resting place of Guss Huntington who was the first black police officer hired by the City of Dothan, Alabama in 1947 and according to tradition, the first black officer of a municipality hired in the State of Alabama. Officer Huntington served in Dothan, Al from 1947 until his passing in 1962. Current and retired officers that have served after Mr. Huntington wish to honor him in a manner fitting a real hero. Any information on surviving family members or Mr. Huntington's resting place would be greatly appreciated.

I can be contacted at stphhamm@comcast.net or sohamm@dothan.org.
