Since Peter McGraw was to appraise the Hunter estate-I will comment on an 1823 Pike Co., Ms. suite between Hance Hamilton and David McGraw, which continued on between Hance and David's executor/admin. of his estate-Darling McGraw. The suit was over some negro slave/slaves.
It has something to do with the indenture in 1809 between Isaac Hunter, Alexr. Hunter, James Jones, John Jones, Patsy Jones, Polley Jones, Burwell Jones and Giles Jones and David McGraw that Isaac Hunter (and all the others as above) in consideration of $200 to them in hand paid by David McGraw bargained and sold a negro woman named Ginney of the age of twenty one years of age-and that all the above had good right to sell said slave. The bill of sale was registered 13 November 1810 in Dickson Co., Tn and Cornelius McGraw (Cornelius Suggs McGraw, s/o David) witnessed the deed.I have no idea how these all connect, but David family was from Fairfield Dist., SC., went to Tn., then moved to Mississippi territory. I have wondered if Hance's wife was a Jones.
I know that Darling McGraw md. Margaret Meek, d/o Thomas Meek and in 1809 from Wilkinson Co., Ms. he intrusted David McGraw resident of Fairfield Dist., SC to apply to the organized orphans court for a reversion of a tract of land of Little River in the said District belonging to the Late Thomas Meek reserved one third of which by Heirship belonging to my wife (w/o Darling) and the remainder to her mother and brother this being his power of attorneydo bargain, sell and dispose of said land with perfect title in my ---given from under my hand this 11th of March 1809.
A deed identifies the land (by sale of James Meek, Mississippi Territory of Wilson County) and being an orignal tract of 120 acres originally granted toWilliam Jones, now deceased (1810) and from him conveyed to Aberaham Jones and from said Jones to Thomas Meek.
this land being sold to William Youngue of said district.
This is Fairfield Co., SC Book T, pages 212-213.
How does this decipher into the other Jones' of Dickson Co., Tn. and then Hance Hamilton in Ms.? This same Darling McGraw would continue on the suit between heirs of David and Hance Hamilton and David McGraw won the suite, after his death). Is this also related to Darling Jones who had a son named Abram Darling Jones?
