Hi Felix. Thank you for your reply. My grandfather started his search for his grandfather's parents in 1970 and unfortunately my grandfather died in 1985 before he had finished his research. My uncle did some research as well until he became ill. Now I am trying to step in to see if I can complete what my grandfather had started so many years ago. In my grandfather's notes, he had James Lacey and Jenettie Hunt as who he thought might be his great grandparents but then before his own father died, he told my grandfather that his father was illegitimate and he said his mother kept her maiden name and that either she had a sister named Emmer or that his grandfather had a sister named Emmer. So, if this is indeed true, then my research has gotten complicated. He kind of felt that maybe the name Calhoun may have been our true surname but went by Hunt, his mother's maiden name. The story was that she moved from Mississippi to Texas when he was a very young child. He believes her name is Virginia or Virgie as she was called. But he never did find her family before he died to determine the truth. So, he felt that we came from one of these two lines but not sure which. Now I am trying to find the truth and was hoping there was someone still alive out there that my know something of this story. Or someone with some ideas on how to figure this out. Not a story to be proud of if it is true but I believe in finding the truth. Thank you for your response and if you have any more info or ideas on where to look I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much! Michelle
