It is definitely Mary Gears who married Charles Grigsby after the death of Mathias Hunsinger. Mary was born circa 1761 - 1763 and died in 1861. She and Mathias had 14 children, four of whom probably died young and the names not remembered.
Following is some of the info I have on Mathias Hunsinger and Mary Gears and the source.
Mathias is said to have come to America from Germany with his brother Jacob Hunsinger somewhere around the year 1780. They are said to be the sons of Mathias Huntzinger.
Jacob Hunsinger was born ca 1766 in Germany. He married in 1784, Mary Burkett, daughter of Jehu Burkett.
Jacob is thought to have been in NC for awhile. He died in 1840, Mishawake, IN. Mrs. V.C. Elms, Kevil, KY is a descendant of this family working on their
genealogy.
Mathias is first recorded in Rowan CO. NC where he was granted 222 acres on both sides of Reedy Creek on 4 Nov 1784.
Mahtias sold his land 1 May 1788 to Adam Winkler (Rowan CO. NC Deed Book 10, page 139; Book 11, pages 439 and 441)
Mathias moved with his family to Fayette CO. KY and is found in the 1790 Census enumerated on 11 Jan 1790.
Mathias went from Fayette County to Muhlenberg CO. KY where he received a grant of 200 acres for land south of the Green River. His Land Patent #3122 is dated 14 Jan 1805. Recorded in S.G.R. Book 2, page 263.
Mathias died intestate on 21 Nov 1805 (Will Book 1, page 56)
After the death of Mathias Mary married Charles Grigsby and moved to White County, Illinois to be near her sons, Adam, Jacob, and Samuel.
Mary is shown as 88 years old in the 1850 Census of Edgar CO. IL. which shows her birth place as Maryland.
Mathias and Mary are said to have had 14 children.
