Hi ,Sorry I am so long in getting back to you on this post.I remember your July 20 post about Melenna Thomas married to william N. thompson.Did I send you a list of Richard Thomas and Lucy Hunnicutt children? no melenna Thomas there. but I do have a marriage bond of Melenna Thomas married wm. N. ThompsonHere is what it says. You might have it already.Date of bond?Security and Witness ??? Date of marriage --25 March 1833Minister James L. Gwaltney... Wish it showed a witness.that always helps. Usually the girls father. Wait a minuted, I kept looking and on another sheet this is what it has on Melinna thomas. Date of bond 4 December 1832 Witness and Security James R. Bell.Does that ring a bell?So there are all the date and who is this James R. Bell?I have a list of marriages bonds for 1768 through 1853 that a dear man sent me after he went to Surry.I wish I could go to Surry again. Does this help you any?I keep looking at all post and read them over and over.
If you can find the the surry web sit let me know.I live in Gautier, Mississippi and could I join the Surry County historical society?Don't think I could be at the meeting but might help finding out some family history from there.I could pay dues. Ha. Ha.Margaret thanks so much and hope you both are enjoying retirement there in VA. I Am trying to join the DAR and the UDC. think that is right.Anyway, doing a lot of searching and trying to get Death Cert on family members.Through William Emery who married Ruth Thompson I am joining. William was the Revolutionary Soldier.I will close for now. Please let me know what you can find on your Thomas.the Web site and the Surry county historical Society..thanks and Best wishes, Jean Thomas Grant Rigney
