Early Hunnicutt Genealogy

Michael, I don't consider it proved that he was a son, but the circumstantial evidence you've provided convinces me that he was some kin and probably close kin.You wrote that it's "very likely" he was a pretermitted child by an earlier marriage. That would be the usual reason why someone with the same surname of the deceased, but younger, would contest the will but not prevail.(I'm assuming he was younger.Do you have any evidence as to how old Augustine was when he died?)
The inheritance of the name Augustine in John's line of descendants also shows close kinship.Of course, they need not be named for this Augustine. There could've been another Augustine who was father to both Augustine and John of VA.
A search for Hunnicutts in England may be the only way to settle this. What have you been able to find there? The IGI shows the name to be not uncommon in Devonshire, but very rare in every other county. The PCC has only 3 wills: a Honeycott in Devonshire, another in Somerset, and a Honycote in Cornwall.
