I am trying to locate any relative, living or dead,of William Henry Hunley,my grandfather, who was given permission to Join the U.S.Army ca.1890 in Macon, Bibb Co.,Ga.,by his mother, who signed NANCY CLOWES HUNLEY.I know basically nothing more about either of them than what is contained in his Army records. He re-enlisted twice more, giving as his father each time"WILLIAM HENRY HUNLEY",deceased. Each time he re-enlisted,however, he gave his father's nationality as,in order of enlistment;Spanish
Irish, and American.I am beginning to wonder if he was concealing something about his parentage;illegitimacy, possibly?
At any rate, the only place in the country I have been able to place the Clowes and Hunley families in close proximity was Kentucky.
Anyone with even possibly pertinent info may contact me
Thanks in advance.
