Jim:
Thank you for that very interesting note.I checked into my Hungerford database and here is what I found:
I don't have any Connecticut Hungerfords with the name William during that time-period in Connecticut.Needless to say, I am interested in finding out more about the probate of Samuel Commins. Can you tell me in what volume and page it can be found?
There were two Thomas Hungerfords that may beSamuel Jr.'s guardian. They are father and son.Thomas Hungerford (the elder) was born 11 Jul 1702 in East Haddam and died 12 Nov 1786 in New Fairfield. He married, in East Haddam, Margaret Stewart. She died in New Fairfield on 16 Feb 1787.Their son Thomas was born in East Haddam on 11 Jul 1727 and christened there on 15 Aug 1731.I have no further information re his life.
The only Cummings I have in my database married the granddaughter of his niece. His Christian name is not known. The granddaughter's name was Charlotte Hart.
Let me know if any of this data helps you make a connection.I would be happy to share notes with you and/or brainstorm on how to proceed from here...I look forward to hearing from you.Take care.
