Dear Richard:
My nane is Jim Cummings and I have found that members of my family were in the upper 7 (miles)of New Fairfield twp.CT. from pre 1747 to post 1762. In probate papers of Samuel Commins, who died insolvent 1749/50. He evidently had a long illness and his family helped with the expenses. His father and several of his brothers entered claims against his estate. There was also a William Hungerford, who entered a claim. (Was this a brother in law of Samuel??)There were three sisters of Samuel; Abigail, Lydia and Elizabeth. Also a Thomas Hungerford was appointed as guardian of Samuel jr. These two items make me wonder if there was some sort of a relationshp between the Hungerfords and the Commins. If you have any information of William or Thomas and if you find that there was a connection, we should probably exchange info.
Thanks
Jim
