Pollaky, 1828 - Pressburg (Bratislava)
Trying to trace Pollaky.Ignatius Paul Pollaky arrived
in England as a poor exile in
1850.His son Francesco, changed his name to
Frances Cecil Hamilton during the war and was
a qualified Dr. who gave up medicine to open
a grocer's shop and experiment with new
methods of food hygiene. His shop was in
Crawley Down in Sussex. An article about his
shop and experiments appeared in the News
Review, March 9th, 1950.The name Pollaky
was dropped from future generations.In
research, no name Pollaky can be found apart
from that referring to Paddington Pollaky in
The Heavy Dragoon by W.S. Gilbert. A
newspaper article confirms that he was
Ignatius Paul Pollaky.A Mr. D.B. Tramme of
Baltimore, appealed for information through
a the newspaper while conducting research
for a fellow author from maryland who was
writing a biography of this man.-He is
my great grandfather.I have no other
information and would love to hear from
somebody who could tell me more.
