Thanks for your reply . I will check out the link you gave me. When he came to America some of his papers said he cliamed allegiance to Emporer Franz Joseph and his country was Austro-Hungary. I have him coming through the Port of new Orleans, fighting with 1st Indiana Artillery in Civil War and at Vicksburg, settling in Mt. Vernon Ind as a wagonmaker and dying in 1870 there as a fairly young man. His Wife was Adaline Anselm.I find him in the 1870 census there in Posey co. Ind.
