William, I just wanted to mention that the city you refer to was not given the name Bratislava until 1919, when it became the capital of the Slovakia portion of the then newly created country of Czechoslovakia. Until 1919, the city was located in HUNGARY and was known as PRESSBURG in German and as POZSONY in Hungarian and was a predominantly German and Hungarian (or Magyar, as the Hungarians call themselves) city, Slovaks having formed only a small minority of the city's population. Today, the city's population is almost purely Slovak. From his name, Carl Frohmann was obviously what is known as a CARPATHIAN GERMAN.
