With all due respect...... there is generally much confusion among some descendents of Rusyns... no doubt they were Rusyn and spoke Rusyn, the Russian language would have been spoken where they came from... but Rusyn which like Russian is a Slavic language... So they could understand many Russian words... and could have easily learned Russian. While some Rusyns were Orthodox many converted once they arrived in America and ran into resistance from the Roman Catholic Bishops who did not take to priests being married... as they were in the Greek Rite Catholic Church... which was and is "in communion" with the Pope. that boundry where they were born did not change from the late 1700s til after 1918... nearly 200 years.. many of those places have had the same borders since before America was even discovered ! Seriously you probably could learn something and maybe get some assistance from those links I gave you. Robert Notify Administrator about this message?
