Samuel Strickland’s headright had originally belonged to William Humphries, proof of which is contained in a letter dated at Austin on 27 April 1861, and is addressed to Alfred M. Samuel Strickland's unfinished title, dated at San Augustine, 1 September 1835 is on-file in the Texas General Land Office (file #234), and bearing his mark X. My ancestor, Alvey R. Johnson (1803-1862) represented the estate of the late Samuel Strickland of Shelby County. Among the records include certified copy of the July 31, 1847 minutes of the Probate Court of Shelby County anent estate of Samuel Strickland, deceased.
