JAMES HUMPHRIES OF RUTHERFORD CO. NC

I recently came across the following information sent to me some time ago by Ben Humphries, who is the main researcher of our William I line in Rutherford and Cleveland Co's. in NC. He wrote:
"I found a William Humphries in Buncombe Co. NC in the 1850 census. He later moved to Cleveland GA, raised a family, died and is buried there. Census records indicate he was b. in SC. I think he is the son of James Humphries. James entered land on the east side of Cove Creek, Rutherford Co. in 1818. This is the western part of Rutherford Co. Some 50 or 60 miles from where our people (William I of Cleveland Co.) lived. James was always listed in the census as living around Robert Humphries and later Phillip Humphries. I think Phillip was a son of James, also. James lived near and their land joined Permenter Morgan, a well-known Baptist preacher in the early days of Rutherford Co. The William mentioned above, married his daughter. In fact, they named a son James Morgan Humphries. I have never found anything to prove whether James and Robert are related to our William I."
This is not my line and I know nothing else about them. I hope it might help someone else.
Joyce
