Geraldyne,
Thanks for your reply. My postal address is PO Box 117, Bison, OK. 73720.My e-mail address is [email protected].
It looks as if your descendancy is through a straight male line while mine is straight maternal.
I've only disacovered the Humphries family over the last few months through researching my grgrgrandmother Mary Willingham Ray.That she was the daughter of Rebecca Humphries only became obvious when Rebecca moved in with her after Thos. Willingham's death in the 1850's.Rebecca is present in the Elisha Ray household in the 1860 GA census of Carroll Co.Before this discovery some researchers identified Mary as the daughter of Wm. and Catherine Ann Willingham who also had a daughter named Mary of roughly the same age.
Wm. may be a younger brother of Thos. We've had some problem with this identification due to the fact that there is one Mary Willingham present in Wm.'s household in the 1850 census of Calhoun Co., AL and another present as the wife of Elisha Ray in the Campbell Co., GA census. We were pretty sure that our Mary couldn't bi-locate.
It was a revelation to me that Mary Willingham Ray came to OK in pioneer days along with several of her children and grandchildren.A month or two ago I visited her grave in an old deserted cemetery in southern OK adjacent to the county where my mother's people settled in the 1880's and 1890's.She was flanked by her son Wm. J. Ray d. 1915and her daughter Malissa Ray Noah who died probably in childbirth in 1901 at the age of 46.Mary, whose mother was Rebecca Humphries, died in July, 1904.So a part of Rebecca made it out this way.
I look forward to corresponding with you.
