Mr. Stewart,

You state your intention wasn't to "sound rude," nevertheless, the effect was just the same. Although you may not care "what Winnifred was," I do. I do, because I care about accuracy and the truth. This is a genealogical forum. When someone makes a claim that Winnifred was "a pure blood Cherokee," that reflects on her ancestry and thus it affects genealogical research. The fact is, she was not a Cherokee. I have outlined her ancestry, including her patrilineal line of descent from Nicholas George, a native of England and the immigrant founder of the Lancaster Co., VA George family.

With all due respect, with your attitude of "who cares," why are you interested in genealogy? If one doesn't care, then why bother? For example, if we know the "facts" should we then let some fringe group say the Holocaust never happened? Of course not. I would think that anyone and everyone would want to know the truth.

What I "perceive" to be the facts is based on factual data. Factual data being the information that is obtained from primary sources, etc. The Human family did not even know the maiden surname of Winnifred George and some had even wrongly assumed that she was a daughter of Thomas Gilliam, of Knox Co., TN rather than his widow. I would think that my posting of Winnifred (George) Gilliam Human's ancestry would cause excitement, rather than the hostility you have expressed.

As you have appointed yourself the spokesman of the Human family, or at least "a lot of Human descendants," I will only say that I do not and will never understand the attitude you have expressed.

I will follow your lead and be frank. I have no interest in your opinions and feelings as expressed in your posting, which did not include any sort of genealogical discourse. That's not the purpose of this forum. The purpose of this forum is genealogy and the discussion of FACTS. Therefore, you should direct any further personal comments to my personal e-mail address. Otherwise, that is an abuse of the GenForum terms of service and an utter waste of time. Misuse of the GenForum and off topic postings, of a personal nature, can result in the revocation of posting privileges and the removal of offensive posts.
