Regarding the Hulseys listed in the Rapides Par., La. cemeteries.I believe this to be Kenny Kirkland Hulsey, b. Alabama (Birmingham according to the death cert. of one of his daughters.)I've been working on this family for the last couple of days in an attempt to find out more about my great-aunt by marriage, Ruth Mae Hulsey who married Albert Davis Burton. Her Mar. 22, 1956 death certificate had her father's name listed as "Kenny Kirkland" and her mother's maiden name listed as "Scofield."No mention of "Hulsey" which confused me as I'd been told that her maiden name was Hulsey. Her obituary lists surviving siblings as "six sisters, Miss Eloise Hulsey of Baton Rouge, Mrs. Bob Beard of Shreveport, Mrs. J. P. Murphy of Athens, Mrs. R.C. Stewart of Washington, D.C., Mrs. R.N. Oakley of Port Neches, Tex., and Mrs. W.R. Stafford of Cheneyville; two brothers, W.B. Hulsey of Gloster, Miss., and Joe B. Hulsey of Baton Rouge."A Jan. 5, 1990, obituary for Joe B. Hulsey listed only 2 surviving siblings "two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Lillian Murphey, Athens, and Mrs. Merle Jean Stewart, Round Rock, Texas."Census records that I have found so far for this family:1920, Beauregard Par., La., Kenny K. Hulsey (53), wife Lillian (34), son Joseph B. (15), dau. Bessie?, (15?), and dau. Julia K. (1-11/12).I found listed on the USGenWeb Claiborne Par., La. in Hurricane Cem.: JULIA HULSEY BEARD, 24 Jan. 1918 - 23 Jan. 1987, and ROBERT LORAND BEARD, 8 July 1914 - ___, which appears to be the Mrs. Bob Beard mentioned above. In the same cemetery there is also listed: Hulsey, Allen, 20 Jan 1920 - 19 May 1929; Hulsey, Eloise Cox, 06 May 1921 - 08 Sep 1965; Hulsey, Lillie Cox, 21 Mar 1885 - 07 Oct 1970.Appears to me this is Kenny K.'s second? wife Lillian, daughter Eloise mentioned in obit above, and a son who'd died prior to the obits above. In 1930, Claiborne Par., La., there is Lillian C. Hulsey (45, widow), with 4 daughters:Julia K. (12), Elouise (8), Mattie L. (6), and Murll J. (2-9/12).This last two should be the "Mattie Lillian Murphey and Merle Jean Stewart" listed in Joe's obit above. In 1930, Rapides Par., La. census there is William R. Stafford with wife Ione (32), the couple buried near Kenny K. Hulsey in the Cheneyville, Rapides Par., Old Christian Cem.The W.B. Hulsey mentioned in Ruth's obit who was of Gloster, Ms. appears to be the person listed in the Social Security Death Index as "WILL HULSEY, SSN 425-01-3173, Residence:39638Gloster, Amite, MS, Born 15 Jul 1896, Died Mar 1976 Issued:MS (Before 1951)."The only census possibilities I've found so far for him MAY be a Willie Hulsey in Floyd Co., Tx. in 1920, age 23, with a wife and child; and a 1930 Clarke Co., Ms., Will B. Hulsey, 33, divorced.Still no leads on where my great-aunt Ruth was in 1930 and before.I understand that she did have a previous marriage which is apparently why she isn't listed in the 1920 and 1930 Hulsey household.I have not found record of that marriage OR the one to my uncle Albert D. Burton.Any leads you might have would be welcome - or anything additional on the above family.
