I think "Skid" maybe that "Sid" that my grandfather had written down in his notes of Jesse and Mary's children. I am a descendant of Alfred and according to my grandfather's notes, he only had one brother, and all the rest of his siblings were sisters. Where exactly is "Tharptown" in Alabama? My grandfather had written down that he was born in 1827 in Alabama, but didn't say where exactly. Also, I did not know the maiden name of Alfred's mother until recently (my grandfather only had it written down as "Mary") I would still like to know desperately what side of the family the Indian blood (if any) came on. Alfred died in the Cherokee Nation in 1914, and the one photo I have him shows definite Indian traits, but no one in my family was ever really sure, because no one wanted to admit it. Could this have come on the "Tharp" side of the family? It doesn't seem likely to me that it would have come on the Hulsey side, given the "pedigree" nature that they seem to come from. Please respond, and give me a little info. on where your family went to after Alabama if you can.
