Marriage records can be found on Cheshire BMD for Frederick Hulme to Faith Clayton, married 1866 St.Mary's Stockport,Cheshire. Ref. ST16/17/292
A Marriage certificate can be obtained from them or alternatively from Ancestry.com thats the only way to confirm the name of his Father.
Checked the 1841 census and its def. a transcription error.

Found Frederick and Faith on the 1871 census (written as HOLMS) living with her parents Isaac and Matilda Clayton. They had one son at that time... William Holms c 1867 born in Brinnington,Cheshire,England... not found them after that....You mention US death records ... did they emigrate to the US?? and if so where to, I may be able to locate them if I know... only a possibility.
